A Learner's Poem: July 2009

Good Feeling

Sittting high up on a tree looking at the sunrise,

I can see the birth of a new day,

giving life and hope to all things around me,

and when I spread my wings feeling the warmth of the sun,

coming through my feathers,

filling my heart with love and happiness,

and giving me the feeling of singing to all things being

born around me.

I'm a Silent Old Tree

By Rodolfo Diaz,  Adult Learner

I’m a silent old tree
That lives among the giants.

But I’m not a Sequoia,
Nor am I a Redwood.

Although I’m big,
I do not cast out a big
Shadow or live in the
Forest like other
Trees.

I live among the people
And the giant buildings of
The city.

My trunk is a book
With pages filled with
Wisdom,
And the leaves on my
Branches
Are the people that are
Climbing
The tree of knowledge.

A Special Place

By Rodolfo Diaz

A place that is special to me
Is a place that is quiet,
A place where I can think,
Make decisions,
Do some reading,
And be at peace with myself.
It’s a place where I can write a story
Or a poem
With an open mind.
A place that is special to me
Is where my thoughts can be free
To become an eagle and fly freely
Through the wind in the sky,
Or become a fish and swim the oceans
And be able to go wherever
My imagination takes me
Like a trip
Through the stars in the heavens.

My Darling

My darling,

you’re as pleasant to see

as the morning sunrise,

and more beautiful

than the sunset in the evening.

A Star Came Down

A star came down from the sky bringing with it,
an angel from the far corner of the heavens,
and you have the twinkle
of a shining start in the distant sky,
and I can see the great loveliness
of an angel in your eyes.
